Why did we enter?

BIVI (BioVie Inc.) was a high-conviction intraday trade driven by market momentum, centered on a live investor conference call and an opportunity arising from market mispricing. On August 6, 2026, BioVie released top-line results from its Phase 2 SUNRISE-PD trial, which evaluated the drug bezisterim for the treatment of early-stage Parkinson’s disease. The initial market reaction was drastic: shares plummeted nearly 50%, falling to the $1.00–$1.27 range, as traders focused on the presentation of the primary endpoint rather than the underlying data. However, the data itself told a far more compelling story: statistically significant improvements in both motor and non-motor symptoms, a favorable shift in 283 of the 380 analyzed proteins toward reduced inflammatory burden, and a safety profile comparable to placebo, with no serious adverse events. By August 12, traders began to reconsider their stance.

BioVie had scheduled a live investor conference call for 4:15 PM (US Eastern Time) that day (a formal opportunity for management to explain the biomarkers in detail and answer questions from the investment community). Speculative positioning leading up to the call generated significant momentum prior to the event. As an additional factor, SEC filings (Schedule 13G) revealed that Morgan Stanley had accumulated a substantial stake in BioVie, declaring ownership of between 8% and 11.9%. Institutional accumulation of this magnitude in a micro-cap biotech company (with a market value of just $8–$10 million and approximately 7.5 million shares outstanding) sent a powerful signal that did not go unnoticed by retail investors. The combination of an entry point at deeply oversold levels, confirmation of institutional buying, a reassessment of robust clinical data, and an imminent calendar catalyst created an exceptionally favorable scenario for a high-intensity stock market move within a single trading session.

What was happening?

With only 7.5 million shares outstanding and a market capitalization of between $8 million and $10 million, BIVI is extremely sensitive to any significant increase in volume. As retail investor interest grew ahead of the conference call and news of the filing with Morgan Stanley circulated through trading communities, even moderate buying pressure was enough to trigger outsized intraday percentage moves. The massive sell-off on August 6 had created a highly compressed starting point, and the August 12 session marked a relief rally as the market finished digesting what the data actually indicated.

What we did

We identified the setup (an oversold micro-cap company, an institutional accumulation signal, and an imminent catalyst) and announced the opportunity to the Atlantic Trading community.

Both the entry and the exit were executed on August 12, 2026.
