Dan’s Trading Background

So, I started trading back in June 2017, really with a simple goal, just wanting better returns on my savings than a bank account was ever going to give me. That’s how it started. But it didn’t take long for it to become a genuine passion, researching businesses, understanding what actually makes a company succeed long-term.

My background’s a little different to a lot of traders. I didn’t take the traditional academic route. Instead, I built my knowledge through more than 20 years of real-world business experience, managing teams for global brands, Samsung included. That gave me a first-hand look at how successful companies actually operate, how they make decisions, how they create value over time. And that’s really the foundation of how I research and evaluate investments today.

Travelling’s shaped the way I think too. I’ve lived on four continents, been to over 30 countries, seen different cultures, different industries, different ways of thinking. I always say travelling is the university of life, because every new experience teaches you to adapt, to solve problems, to see things from a different angle. That’s stayed with me in how I look at companies and the markets.

Today I specialise in swing trading the US stock market, fundamentally driven. Every investment starts with proper research, financial health, management, competitive position, the short-term catalysts and the long-term growth potential. I’m not chasing every move in the market. I’d rather be patient, stay disciplined, and wait for the high-conviction opportunities where the research actually backs it up.

In 2025, that approach gave me a 91.18% win rate, 31 winners out of 34 completed positions. I’m proud of that, but honestly, I think consistent success just comes down to following a proper process, not trying to get rich overnight.

Outside of trading, I spend a lot of my time on my acre of land in Spain, tending the fruit and veg garden, fishing, swimming, cooking. At Atlantic Trading, I share my research, explain the thinking behind each trade, and help members build the confidence to evaluate businesses for themselves. Really, my goal is just to teach people to invest with patience, discipline, and a proper understanding of what they actually own.

    How we calculate win rates

We measure win rate using closed trades only, to reflect actual performance, in the past 12 months.

    A trade is classified as:

    • Win → profit after fees

    • Loss → negative result

    • Breakeven → no gain or loss, not included

    Formula

    Win rate % = Wins ÷ (Wins + Losses) × 100

    Example

    • Wins: 89

    • Losses: 11

    Win rate = 89 ÷ (89 + 11) × 100 = 89%

    What we include

    • All trades within the past 12 months from the most recent update

    • Fees and realistic execution

    • Consistent calculation across all our traders

    What we exclude

    • Open trades (trades that are still on-going)

    • Partial updates or scaling entries

    Important

Win rate alone does not define performance.

For example, a trader with a lower win rate can outperform if their winning trades are larger than their losses.

Please remember current performance does not predict or guarantee future performance. You may loose money by following our traders and trading is still very risky.
